Why We Believe Afrocks Is The Next Big Thing To Help You Find Your Natural Hair Stylist?
Wow! What a month it’s been for Afrocks so far! Well, we haven’t launched yet as we are being held back by a few admin stuff but we are keeping ourselves busy and meeting natural hair stylists and afro hairdressers all over London. We are also showing our friendly (I hope so!) faces in a number of networking events in the capital. All in all we are getting ready for our launch very soon. If you haven’t yet, you can sign up either as a client or as a stylist and we will get in touch with you prior to full website launch to let you know that this is happening.
Why we believe it’s going to be big?
Let’s first take a step back and look at what we have achieved so far. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you have probably read our very first blog post explaining our mission and vision for Afrocks and for the business. We definitely stand by what we wrote back in March: we believe in disrupting the afro-caribbean hair market to make it better and more accessible to women in need of help with their natural hair. We believe in being part of the change we want to see – by this we say creating more opportunities within the community. As I always say: I am in love with black businesses and I ultimately want to help them shine bright. Other Black businesses are not my enemies.
We also believe it is going to be big because the numbers here are big! Have a look at the infographic we published on our blog on the 21st of March 2016, ’11 mind blowing figures to understand the women of afro hair market’ and see for yourself:
– Afro-caribbean women spend six times more than other ethnicities on hair
– Relaxer sales declined by 26% between 2008 – 2013, mainly because of the Natural Hair Movement.
– Finally, the market size is a whooping £4 billion! So I would encourage black business women and men to look into this one.
But more than numbers and market size stuff, the most important factor is without any doubt the amazing response we had from both interested clients and stylists during our pre-registration campaign – we now have almost +900 people on the waiting list, ready to book once we go live.
How Afrocks will make your life easier when it comes to finding a Natural Hair stylist or Natural Hair salon?
When it comes to how we will actually help you, there are 3 main points we really worked on (and are still working on) hard:
Beautiful Design and user-friendly interface
No more clumsy, dodgy-looking websites. We are beautiful and this beauty should be reflected in whatever we decide to build. Our platform features high-quality, high-resolution pictures, nice and appealing stylist profile, huge and well-written text.
Plus, the process of selecting what your service has been constantly improved with both customers and stylists feedback. We tried to make it intuitive and customer-friendly.
We are still open to any feedback: please send us a message at email@example.com or alternatively use the contact form on the website. We don’t bite 🙂
Vetted Natural Hair Stylists
Our CEO Herve Despois, along with other Afrocks team members have spent the last couple of weeks calling and meeting face-to-face with all the Natural Hair stylists that have applied to work with us, to make sure that they fit in right, both in terms of skills and personality. We have on a number of occasion spent hours discussing, looking at pictures of their work with a stylist, around a cup of coffee! In addition, stylists will go through a third-party background check. Safety first!
This is where we stand out from classic directories as we have integrated a booking system allowing clients to schedule and book their natural hair appointment from the their laptops or mobile devices. No more cash handling, when card machine doesn’t work at the salon! You can pay online, in the same way you would book your hotel room or flight.
Get your Natural Hair styled from the comfort of your home
Sometimes, you just don’t feel like doing your hair.
You just don’t feel like going out on a saturday morning to get your hair done to a salon.
We understand it as we’ve been there.
You can now book your stylist and relax. Because Natural Hair shouldn’t be a brave thing. It should just be normal.
As we said before, the full launch will happen very soon. You can browse through the website and register to find your natural hair stylist.
