Why I Wake Up Every Day
Welcome to Afrocks blog!
Ok, let me tell you a story. When I woke up this morning I asked myself: why do I wake up every day?
I usually wake up because my alarm clock gives me a hard time. I also wake because my second alarm clock – my 22 months-old boy – is usually up a 5.30am and doesn’t really appreciate when I am not sharing his fun (meaning running and jumping all around).
Ok, but why do I really wake up every morning? What drags me out of my comfy bed every morning?
I am telling you: I wake up because I believe. I believe that things can change. As a young Caribbean entrepreneur, I believe in a better future and more opportunities – not only for myself – but for my community.
I wake up every morning because I trust we are on the verge of a big change! As a digital marketing professional with +6 years’ experience at top level management agencies/companies in London, I have witnessed how digital has changed the way we think, the way we sell and buy. In a nutshell, the way we do business. And this is an incredible opportunity for black businesses in London, the UK, in the Caribbean and on the African continent to smash doors, disrupt industries, do-nothingness; an opportunity for minorities, discriminated women, struggling moms, and unemployed youths to set their own agenda; to rise, shine and give back to their community.
This is exactly what I am doing with Afrocks. I want to disrupt the Afro Natural Hair industry, set high standards for our Beauty professionals and make Natural Hair Care something normal, so you have no excuses if you want to go natural. You will now have a credible alternative in front of you if you need to be sharp for an important meeting or radiant for a wedding ceremony.
We should embrace, celebrate and love our thick, coily, curly, kinky hair we have been blessed with, without shaming those who have chosen to do it the other way – because at the end of the day we are all beautiful.
I am confident we are building a truly amazing service, something people need – and want. Numbers don’t lie: in 1 weeks we had +500 interested and excited clients signing up on our dedicated coming soon page.
Afrocks will be pretty straight forward: you describe what you want, select day and time and pick a vetted stylist for your Hair care. No more cash handling, you can pay everything online. Your stylist will come to your house at the scheduled time to deliver quality services.
You will be able to book services such as Locs maintenance, Box Braids, Senegalese Twists and much more in less than 2 minutes. You can get more visual information on the page How Afrocks works.
We also want to hear from skilled and customer focused freelance stylists keen on getting more jobs on the side or building a full schedule. It’s all about showcasing what you can do and giving you the opportunity to increase your bookings. More information on our page Become a stylist
Be patient. I am very excited but we need a few more weeks before the website is fully functional. In the meantime you can browse around and register your free account.
The revolution is happening. Now.
