Pre booking FAQ

  • What areas do you service?
    • We currently cover the London area. We are extending our reach progressively nation wide, so don’t worry if your area is not yet listed. You can also contact us if you’re interested in getting serviced around you. In the meantime, follow us on our social pages and get inspired by the latest hair trends.
  • How quick can I schedule a booking?
    • Bookings are scheduled based on our stylists’ availabilities. To maximize your chances of getting the job done at your convenience, we suggest that you book at least 24 hours in advance.
  • How do I prepare for my appointment?
    • We require that you shampoo, condition and stretch or blow-dry your hair prior to our stylists’ arrival. This helps our stylists get right to making you look good, but most importantly, allows you to ensure that your hair is well nourished! Shampoo and condition your hair like you normally would. If you’re unsure about it, you can contact us for advices. Consider also an ideal spot for him or her to setup with the appropriate lighting and sitting.
  • What if I prefer to have my hair washed and blow dried by an Afrocks stylist?
    • There are Afrocks stylists that offer wash and blow dry services generally with extra fees. You can choose additional services during your booking process on the platform.
  • What products and styling tools should I have?
    • Your Afrocks stylists have products and styling tools with them, but please let them know if you have any allergies or specific concerns or would like to use your own products.
  • How much does an appointment cost?
    • Most of our prices are at a comparable rate to your local salon. They vary according to the style that you would like to book.
  • When do I pay for my appointment?
    • Once you book an appointment with us, the full amount will be placed on hold and you will only be charged at the completion of you’re booking.
  • Do you accept cash?
    • We only accept credit or debit cards for all booking at this time. This allows us to ensure that bookings are confirmed and you will not be charged until after your appointment. However, based on your satisfaction it is recommended to tip in cash to the stylist
  • Can I request a stylist?
    • Given that we are an on-demand service, we cannot promise a certain hair stylist. However, we pride ourselves on our careful vetting process to guarantee satisfaction and consistency with every member of our Afrocks team.
  • Does Afrocks provide the hair for braiding services?
    • At this moment we do not. It will be your responsibility to purchase your hair. After booking your appointment you can discuss the matter with your stylist who will recommended brands and how many packs of hair you will need based on the style you have chosen.
  • Are your stylists experienced?
    • Absolutely! All our stylists are hand-picked and incredibly talented! Additionally, their work is critically reviewed in-house prior to us sending them out to you. Each qualified applicant is deeply background checked.
  • How long does it take?
    • All of our stylists are reasonably fast but we try not to rush the process. The typical time for a full head can range from 4 to 9+ hours depending on the style and the customer’s hair thickness and length.
  • Is it safe?
    • Your safety and peace of mind are our top priority. Each stylist who applies to join our beauty team is screened for criminal offenses, sexual offenses, national criminal checks and identify verification.
  • I would like braiding services but I’m Allergic to synthetic Hair?
    • If you are allergic to hair used for braiding. The best thing to do is to soak the hair in vinegar and water for 15-30 minutes to remove the alkaline base from the surface.
  • Can I use my own Products?
    • Yes! Our hair stylists will have products and tools with them, but please let them know if you have any allergies or specific concerns or if you would like to use your own products.
  • Do you do children’s hair?
    • Yes we do. However, under the age of two, the hair and scalp is so fragile and you do not want to cause any permanent hair loss or damage to the hair follicle. We would advise loose braid at first Ensuring they are not too tight and to use your own judgement.
  • What If I have Pets?
    • Afrocks loves your pets but some of our stylists may be allergic or scared. If you could please crate animals or place pets in a different room before we come. You can ask if it’s okay to have your pet out but it’s at the stylist discretion.

Post booking FAQ

  • What happens after I book?
    • Once you choose your stylist, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to prepare for your appointment.
      You will also receive a text from us to confirm your appointment and to answer any questions you may have. Prior to the appointment, your stylist will contact you to answer any additional questions you may have.On the date of your appointment you will receive a text message reminder.
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
    • If you cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged a 50% of the total amount fee.
    • Appointment no-shows will be charged the full list price for the service booked.
  • What if I’m late?
    • It’s important that we start all appointments on time. If you are running late, anything over 15 minutes will result in a xxx late charge. If more than 15 minutes late, you will be charged the full amount of the service. As a courtesy, we will reschedule you as well because we know things happen.
  • How do I reschedule a booking?
    • If you have any changes in your schedule and need to change your appointment date or time, Login to your account here to adjust your booking or contact us as soon as possible at: hello@afrocks.com or visit our contact page.
    • Include your name, the time of the original appointment and the desired change. You must contact us 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment in order to avoid our cancellation fee of xxx.
  • I had a problem with my service, who do I contact?
    • We take your satisfaction seriously. If your appointment doesn’t live up to your expectations, we would love to hear your feedback. Please email hello@afrocks.com or visit our contact page
  • I forgot to prepare my hair!
    • If you have yet to prepare your hair prior to the appointment, we will reschedule your appointment if the hair stylist is unwilling to wait. If the stylist leaves, the total cost will be charged and we will reschedule you.
  • What if my stylist is late?
    • Traveling through London in a timely fashion is difficult but if our stylist is late past our 30 minutes grace period, you will receive £20 off instantly.

Hair FAQ

  • How do I pick the right size?
    • If your unsure if the desired style you’re looking at is small, medium or large or somewhere in between, don’t worry, choose the closest match and we will take care of the rest. General Rule: Small size can be compared to a pencil size braids
  • Can I style my hair if it’s relaxed?
    • Yes, your relaxed hair can be worked on, however it is advised that you wait at least couple of weeks after relaxing your hair before getting any style. This will prevent your hair from falling out due to lack of texture.
